The Brown Dog Story: Words From Our Founder

I have a young Boykin Spaniel, named Beau.  We’re learning about each other and learning to trust one another.  He’s a bit stubborn, and at times he thinks he knows better than me.  As I write this, he’s been on three duck hunts, and we haven’t seen as many birds as we’d hoped. When we’ve had a few decoy, I didn’t shoot perfectly, and he didn’t retrieve perfectly.  But the bond between us has increased exponentially with each hunt.

As I’ve reflected on this, I realize most of the meaningful relationships I have with the men in my family have been strengthened outdoors. I grew up duck hunting the Currituck Sound with my dad and brother. I’ve spent countless hours with my step-dad and step-brother at our deer camp and fishing the tidal creeks behind Bald Head Island. My father-in-law taught me to fly fish, and we’ve created memories on streams from the Appalachians to the Rockies. I’ve been blessed by each of these relationships, but without a shared passion for the outdoors, we wouldn’t have the bonds we do.

Brown Dog  socks were created to serve as a reminder, on those days we’re not in the field or on the water, of the relationships we have in our lives and the memories we’ve shared with those people. I trust you’ll enjoy wearing and gifting socks from our collection,  and I hope you have many great memories in store for you this season!

God Bless,
